MIDAS, a movie filmed entirely in Hartford, is coming to theaters across the country on June 28th. The film, produced by The Hartford Film Company, is described as “a socially relevant take on the classic heist genre”. It follows a charismatic college dropout, who recruits his two best friends for a plot to steal from the health insurer that denied his mom’s coverage. In the process, they uncover a much darker scheme that tests the limits of their greed.
The film shot in Hartford in Summer of 2022, and features Hartford landmarks such as Dunkin Park, The Bushnell, The Hartford Riverfront, and over a dozen small businesses. A predominantly local cast and crew were hired for the production, and nearly two hundred local extras participated in larger group scenes. MIDAS marks the feature debut of Writer/Director TJ Noel-Sullivan, a graduate of the Hartford Public Schools and Yale University, who worked at Mattel Films in Los Angeles, before moving back to Hartford to found The Hartford Film Company. Noel-Sullivan first learned filmmaking at a summer program hosted by independent cinema Real Art Ways, one of the local theaters which will be running the film beginning on the 28th.
Writer/Director TJ Noel-Sullivan and CT-based cast and crew are available for interview. An advanced press screener of the film is available upon request, as well as download access to the trailer, select scenes, and stills from the film, to be used in publications or stories.
